Who is Albeiro Vargas?

The Angel of the North
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]Born on June 7th, 1978, in a shanty town surrounding the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, in a simple and very humble home located in the north of the city (hence his nickname). The calling into a life of commitment came to him at a very young age, at the tender age of 6, “I was moved by the hopelessness and human pain I witnessed”, he found himself amidst the poverty of the poorest and the unprotected: aging adults. How the work was born?
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]I was born on June 7th, 1978, in a shanty town surrounding the city of Bucaramanga, Colombia, in a simple and very humble home located in the north of the city. The calling into a life of commitment came to me at a very young age, at the tender age of 6, I was moved by the hopelessness and human pain I witnessed, I was amidst the poverty of the poorest and the most unprotected: aging adults.
However, I now see this reality as a blessing, because in the face of scarcity, the lord gave me in abundance (the lord spelled in lower case because only “God” begins with a capital letter), and provided me with a big heart capable of starting this great work.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]
Our home
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]By 1988, the group of aging adults was already considerable in terms of numbers and needs. I had to redouble my efforts, while continuing to knock on the doors of merchants, businessmen and all the people of good will that God placed in my path and who supported the project according to their means and generosity.
Thanks to a journalist from the Vanguardia Liberal newspaper, Euclides Ardila, who titled the report “The Angel of the North”, the child began to be known by that particular name; and with this name, the work started being recognized in the city and thus generated confidence in the labor being carried out.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1096″ img_size=”large” css_animation=”bounceIn”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1097″ img_size=”large” css_animation=”bounceIn”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]Photograph: first press article. 1988, Vanguardia Liberal.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]
Identity of the Angel
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]By 1988 the group of aging adults was already considerable in numbers and needs; efforts were redoubled and I continued to knock on the doors of merchants, businessmen and all the people of good will I found.
At around the same time, the City was getting to know me a little more, the journalist of the newspaper Vanguardia Liberal: Euclid Ardila, interviewed me and gave me the nickname “The Angel of the North”, that’s how he titled his column.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]
THE FIRST GUARDIAN ANGELS
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]Due to the growing number of aging adults, some without family, forgotten and in dire conditions of illness and lacking the slightest resources, the need to seek help grows urgent since our resources were not sufficient; my family could not cope with the responsibility on their own, so I started knocking on doors, it was thus, that a group of children, companions of service and tolerance, visited, shared and began caring for others with love.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1100″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center” css_animation=”bounceIn”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]
A DREAM TO COME
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]This work continues to grow, especially in needs. It is essential to increase and improve some services such as health care, occupational therapy, recreation and housing; so that one day the dream of having “The Citadel of the Elderly” becomes a reality. A macro project that requires many resources, and that seeks to accomplish what should never be missing, service with love.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”1453″ img_size=”medium” css_animation=”bounceIn”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”2512″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center” css_animation=”bounceIn”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]
ACROSS BORDERS
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css_animation=”bounceIn”]News of the message that Albeiro and his angels were carrying out was received in France by the journalist Tony Comití, who, attracted by the event, travels to Colombia with the intention of verifying what his colleague had written about for the Colombian newspaper.
Comití witnessed the beautiful work that some children from a poor neighborhood were carrying out, that’s how everything was recorded in a beautiful documentary called “The Little Angel of Colombia”. That was the beginning of God’s grace, which would allow us to carry out this dream.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
